About the Artist

Born in Korinthos, Greece in 1990, Giannis Efthimiou studied for three years at the Marble Sculpture School in Tinos Island, where he came into contact with sculpture and painting. In 2011, he was accepted into the Athens School of Fine Arts and graduated in 2017 with excellence for his thesis.

Artist Statement

Efthimiou's practice moves between painting and sculptural materiality. Coloured paper pulp gives the surface a physical presence, allowing images to emerge as reliefs, fragments, terrains, and memories. Landscapes, riders, mountains, homes, and roads become recurring signs in a personal mythology where material and image remain inseparable.
